Inter-university medical engineering faculty (IMEF)

The Inter-university Medical Engineering Faculty was established on the 24 th of December 2002 jointly by the O.O.Bogomolets National Medical University and the National Technical University of Ukraine “Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” .

The faculty consists of the medical cybernetic and telemedicine department, the biomedical engineering department, the master's education department, the educational and research center for medical engineering, the NTUU “KPI” students' polyclinic, and the NTUU “KPI” sanatorium.

Teaching staff: professors - 6, assistant professors - 4, senior lecturers - 4, assistant - 5, principal engineer - 3, doctoral student - 3, operating personnel - 10.

DEPARTMENT of MEDICAL CYBERNETIC AND TELEMEDICINE (MCT) IMEF NTUU "KPI"

Students of the medical cybernetic and telemedicine department are trained under 6.0804 “Computer Science” .

Area: 7.080401 “ Information Control Systems and Technologies ”.
Specialization: “Medical Cybernetic and Information Technologies in Telemedicine”.

Graduates of Medical Cybernetics and Telemedicine Department are trained for employment in theoretical and clinical departments of institutes of higher medical education of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, research institutes of the Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, for clinics, diagnostic centers etc., for private diagnostic centers and clinics, pharmaceutical companies, joint diagnostic centers of Ukraine with other countries. They can work as scientific researcher, as scientific associate in the branch of computation, as programmer-engineer, as software engineer, as computer systems analyst, as computer system administrator, as database administrator, as computer communications administrator, as applied programmer, as system programmer, and computer engineer, as specialist in biomedical data processing and applied mathematics.

DEPARTMENT OF BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING (BME IMEF NTUU "KPI")

BME department chairman, prof. V.B. Maksymenko , M.D., Ph.D.

Students of the biomedical engineering department are trained under 0909 “Equipment” .

Area: 7.090905 “Medical Equipment and Systems”.
Specialization: “Systems of Extracorporeal Circulation, Artificial Organs and Biomaterials”.

Graduates of Biomedical e ngineering Department are trained for research and applied work in research institutes of the Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine and the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine; for medical and technical-engineering departments of educational institutions; for healthcare centers; for production facilities – in development and maintenance of medical equipment and in implementation and engineering assistance in high-end diagnostics, disease prevention and treatment methods linked with the use of bioengineering and medical engineering technologies. They can work as research assistants at research and educational institutions, as engineers in production, product engineer of medical equipment, as consultants for companies producing medical equipment.

DEPARTMENT OF Therapeutic-and-diagnostic complexes (TDC IMEF NTUU "KPI" )

Students of the medical cybernetic and telemedicine department are trained under 6.0804 “Computer Science” .

TDC department chairman, prof. V.I. Korzhov M.D., Ph.D.

Area: 7.080401 “Information Control Systems and Technologies ”.
Specialization: “Therapeutic-and-diagnostic complexes”.

Graduates of Therapeutic-and-Diagnostic Complexes Department are trained for employment as product engineer of modern therapeutic-and-diagnostic complexes in medical, research institutes and patient care institutions of Ukraine. They can work as heads of engineering services, engineers, scientific researcher and advisers in National Academy of Sciences, Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine and Ministry of Health of Ukraine systems, in private diagnostic centers and clinics, pharmaceutical companies, joint diagnostic centers of Ukraine with other countries, to take part in intergovernmental scientific and engineering programs on introduction new engineering technologies in practical public health.

University entrants majoring in all the subjects take entrance examinations in mathematics and physics (entrance examinations, 60 points), the Ukrainian language and literature (testing). More details can be found in the NTUU "KPI" entrance examination reference book.
